An HVAC consultant helps you understand your heating and cooling options before you spend thousands on a system. I don’t sell equipment — I help you make sure you’re buying the right thing, from the right contractor, for the right reasons.
Yes — but not by handing you a list.
I don’t recommend contractors just because of who they are — I look at how they do things. I’m not part of a referral network, and I don’t take kickbacks. My job is to help you understand what to look for, what to ask, and what to avoid — so you can hire with confidence.
If you already have bids, I’ll help you compare them. If you’re still deciding, I’ll give you the tools to spot the difference between a pro and a pitch.
You’re not just looking for the cheapest — you’re looking for the right one. I’ll help you find them.
This isn’t a sales pitch. It’s an hour of expert help, just for you.
If you want your system sized correctly — yes. A Manual J load calculation shows how much heating or cooling your home actually needs. Without it, contractors are just guessing. Oversized systems cost more, break sooner, and run less efficiently.
Consults are typically scheduled within 2–3 business days. Manual J reports are usually delivered within 2 business days after receiving all required info.

Yes — I provide Manual S (equipment selection) and Manual D (duct design) as add-on services when needed. If your project requires it, I’ll make sure everything lines up with your Manual J and meets code. We’ll talk through whether it’s necessary for your situation, and I’ll only recommend it if it adds real value.
A contractor installs the system.
I help make sure it's the right system — before anyone starts drilling holes or placing orders.
Most contractors are great at what they do, but not all of them take the time to properly size a system, explain the design, or compare options based on your specific home and comfort goals.
I don’t sell equipment. I don’t get paid more if you pick one brand over another.
My job is to make sure you understand your options and avoid common mistakes — so the contractor you hire can do their best work.
Yes — and you should.
You’re hiring them, not the other way around. If you’ve invested in a proper load calculation or consultation, that’s yours to use however you want — whether it’s to compare bids or hold a contractor accountable to the specs.
That said, not every contractor is going to love that you brought me in.
Some won’t like being questioned. Some won’t like being challenged. But the good ones? The ones who care about doing things right? They’ll welcome it — because they’ve got nothing to hide.
Yes — I work with both homeowners and contractors, but in different ways.
For homeowners, I provide independent advice and design help so you can make smart, pressure-free decisions.
For contractors, I offer Manual J, S, and D reports and support to help meet code, satisfy rebate requirements, or just ensure the job is done right the first time.
But no matter who hires me — my goal is the same: make sure the system is designed to fit the home, not just the sales pitch.
Not at all — in fact, this is the perfect time.
If you’ve already had a contractor out, or even have a quote in hand, I can help you make sense of it before you commit. I’ll walk you through what’s in it, what might be missing, and whether it actually fits your home’s needs.
It’s never too late to ask smart questions — especially when you’re about to spend thousands of dollars.
It depends on what you’re trying to do.
If you're comparing quotes or trying to understand what a contractor is offering, the consult is the best place to start. We’ll review your specific situation, look at your goals, and figure out what’s right for your home.
If you're working with a contractor who needs proper sizing for code, rebates, or peace of mind, then the Manual J is what you need — and I can provide it directly or as a follow-up to a consult.
Some clients need both. Some just need one. I’ll help you figure that out before you pay for anything you don’t need.
Yes — within reason.
After your consult, I’ll send you a summary of what we covered, plus any recommendations or next steps. If something from our conversation needs clarification later, or you have a quick follow-up question, I’m happy to help.
If your situation changes or you need deeper support down the line, you can always book a follow-up or add services like Manual J, S, or D.
Bottom line: I’m not just here for one call. I’m here to help you get it right.
